A Legacy Beyond Numbers

  • Assisted families in securing affordable housing and connecting them with critical community resources.
  • Advocated for housing equity and community development, including leadership in New Jersey's landmark Mount Laurel affordable housing movement.
  • Championed initiatives that permanently honored Paul Robeson's legacy through the naming of Paul Robeson Community School, Paul Robeson Boulevard, and the Paul Robeson monument.
  • Developed generations of young leaders through educational enrichment, leadership development, and college and career readiness programs.
  • Built lasting partnerships across education, government, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector to strengthen the Greater New Brunswick community.

Today, the Civic League continues to build on this legacy by expanding educational opportunities, advancing health and wellness, strengthening families, developing future leaders, and advocating for a more equitable and thriving Greater New Brunswick.
